Beautiful Synchronicity by Meditation Teacher Training student Yuka Saijo
The art of synchronicity - and gratitude - by Meditation Teacher Training student Yuka Saijo
I wanted to write to you personally to share some of the experiences I’ve had since your class began.
I finished reading "The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success" (which I incredibly found on the street right after our first Meditation Teacher Training class!) and have been integrating the exercises from each law, along with the Five Precepts and the Eightfold Path. I actually started to develop an urge to serve humanity, so at the end of each meditation, I've been asking “How can I serve humanity?” and then something beautiful unfolded.
It was a day full of unexpected twists, and my intention was "I shall judge nothing that occurs." One of my clients texted me, so we arranged to meet last minute at a restaurant called Passerine. When I got there, there was an event happening, hosted by a Chicago-based nonprofit called Culinary Care. My meeting went smoothly and ended very quickly. I'd normally leave right then, but I felt I should stay. When the CEO of Culinary Care started to speak, I felt goosebumps all over my body.
I lost my father to leukemia when I was 23, and she had also lost her father to cancer. Her mission is to deliver fresh meals from restaurants to cancer patients and their families— her story deeply resonated with me. At that moment, I had an inner voice telling me to get involved. On the train ride home, I signed up as a monthly donor. A few days later, the CEO and I connected over the phone. I found out that she’s just getting started in NY and that event was actually their very first one in the city. What's more interesting is, originally it was supposed to happen at a different venue, but it was moved to Passerine at the very last minute. She told me, "I truly believe you were meant to be in that room!"
We connected instantly, and now I’m coordinating a special bottle for their fundraising auction at the annual gala. Even more amazing — their second event is happening at a restaurant that also happens to be my customer! (Out of about 6,400 restaurants in Manhattan, I’m assigned to just 40, so the synchronicity is incredible...wow.)
I was questioning my alcohol-related career, but I feel confident that I’m being guided exactly where I need to be.
How wonderful, if I could offer meditation to the families who are going through a challenging time.
Thank you for sharing your wisdom, Dina. I can't wait for every Sunday!!
