The Path is a leading authority on meditation.
The Path has run certificate Meditation Teacher Training programs since 2015. We are renowned for cultivating community and for teaching Buddhist wisdom in an inspiring and relatable way, so it impacts your daily life in a wonderfully positive way. This program offers TONS of experience guiding meditations, so you feel comfortable guiding a variety of mindfulness and compassion meditations when you graduate. Lead on-demand teacher Dina Kaplan has led meditations and retreats around the world, has studied and practiced dozens of meditation techniques and writes about meditation for Forbes, the New York Times, Time Magazine and more. She is renowned for fostering community and for translating complex Buddhist wisdom into simple language, so you can immediately incorporate it into your life. This program will also cover the neuroscience behind meditation, explaining how and why meditation affects the brain so profoundly.
Is this program right for you?
This course is for you if you want to begin your path towards becoming a meditation teacher or if you are a business person, teacher, coach or any professional who wants to skillfully and knowledgeably integrate meditation teaching into your work. This course is also perfect if you want to further your own path, learn Buddhist wisdom, enjoy the benefits of consistent daily practice and join an inspiring, supportive community of meditators.
Join our amazing community.
This program is designed to foster community, so you graduate not just with classmates, but friends. Throughout the course we build a supportive learning community (sangha) with your fellow classmates, and in addition to the formal discussion group time, students are divided into small groups ("pods") that gather after each class to support each other and practice guiding meditations. It is important for us to create a welcome environment for students of all backgrounds, so we will make sure you feel safe and supported in our community. Past classes have included students of all ages and stages of life, from college graduates to start-up founders to social workers, teachers, investors, coaches and corporate execs. We will also discuss how you can facilitate and encourage a sense of community as a teacher!
Find your freedom.
This course is a journey towards your own happiness and lightness too! The sub-theme of this program is freedom. We want to bring more freedom into your mind and grant you the freedom to choose the Buddhist wisdom you want to bring into your daily life. Together we’ll study how each of us can begin to escape the suffering of everyday life and find the joy in small actions. Students report feeling more calm and balanced even a few weeks into the course. And then, a smoothing of the relationships in their life. Over time they begin to feel a peacefulness wash over them. This is the joy and benefit of the Buddhist path. And as we learn to teach, we learn to deeply incorporate this wisdom into our lives.

Curriculum
Whether you are taking this course for your own benefit or to share the life-changing benefits of meditation with others, the curriculum is carefully designed to give you a deeper understanding of meditation. You’ll also learn not just the “what” but the brain science behind “why” and “how” meditation affects our brains and, in turn, our lives.
You’ll achieve a heightened sense of inner calm and peace — a balance that fortifies you against the ups and downs of life. After taking this course you’ll feel more even throughout the day. Centered. And you’ll begin to feel that the world is supporting you rather than out to get you. This is a crucial shift that affects everything in your life from your happiness with yourself to your relationships and your sense of inner calm.
Students will:
• Understand meditation from a neuroscience perspective, learning about the impact of meditation on the brain and why it helps us live with more equanimity and happiness
• Find greater presence, balance, clarity, and expansiveness within yourself through committed personal meditation practice, with accountability
• Practice leading meditations and receive constructive feedback
• Develop the confidence, vocabulary, and presence to successfully lead others in meditation and help them to build a consistent meditation practice
Topics and meditations covered include:
5 Precepts (Sila) + Living with Virtue - learn why the Buddhist path begins with ethics and how this can be a source of deep happiness with ourselves (and is something we can change TODAY!)
Four Noble Truths - how to escape the suffering of daily life and enjoy freedom (also something we can change right away!)
Ending the Cycle of Suffering and Samsara (to enter nirvana, the world without suffering) - actions we can take to avoid the cycle of suffering many people live with
Eight-fold Path + Focus on “Right Action” - we have the power to choose “right actions” each moment and to live morally sound lives and train our minds .. so we can be happier and more free
5 Hindrances - these can get in the way of our meditations, and if we know them, we can avoid them!
Insight - we’ll learn a meditation known to provide great insights & bring us closer to our intuition
History of Buddhism - the Buddha was an actual man who lived in what is now called Nepal - we’ll learn his story and the three main types of Buddhism now practiced and taught around the world
Three Universal Truths + Karma - Buddhists say our actions lead to more success or failure (we’ll learn how to maximize what cause success!); we’ll also learn the benefits of impermanence
Teaching + How to Answer Difficult Questions - we’ll learn pacing, timing and trauma-informed guiding + how to respond to tough questions
Making People Feel Welcome, Encouraging Community - The Path is community focused, so we’ll learn how, as teachers, to encourage community when we are teaching!
Meditations covered include:
Mindfulness of the Breath, Mindfulness of Body Sensations, Mindfulness of Sounds and Mindfulness of Thoughts and Emotions
Compassion Meditation (two different techniques)
Walking Meditation
And more
