An Evening with Robert Thurman
September 19th, 2017

Neuehouse, 110 east 25th Street

Join us for an EXTRAORDINARY chance to spend time and learn from one of the most celebrated Buddhist scholars, teachers and authors of our day, Robert Thurman.

The NY Times Magazine refers to Thurman as “The Dalai Lama’s man in America.”  Time magazine named him one of the “25 Most Influential Americans.” He is co-founder with Richard Gere of Tibet House, a close personal friend of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, and father of five children including the actress, Uma Thurman.

On this incredible evening, Thurman will speak with us about one of the most important topics of our time, how can we cultivate peacefulness within while still being activists for good? He'll teach us through the lessons of the Dalai Lama himself, in a life-changing, inspiring evening with one of the top Buddhist minds in the world.

We'll gather at one of the most beautiful private spaces in the city, Neuehouse. Join us at 6pm for a private tea with Thurman (limited to 18 people) or at 7pm for the "main event," a talk, guided meditation and Q&A with Thurman. Tickets for the tea include all general admission activities, and all tickets include a social hour after the talk with wine, coconut water, snacks and more.

Thurman's passion is applying Buddhist wisdom to everyday life. On this evening he will teach us how we can manage our emotions and keep cool while still being activists for good.

Thurman is the first American to be ordained as a Tibetan monk by the Dalai Lama. He is the Jey Tsong Khapa Professor of Indo-Tibetan Buddhist Studies at Columbia University and has lectured around the world, packing audiences with his charisma, enthusiasm and passion for Buddhist wisdom.

This is a special opportunity to spend intimate time with Bob and to hear him speak on this extraordinarily topical subject.

Thurman's model will be the Dalai Lama, his close friend, who is a master at cultivating self-regulation while still fighting for good for the Tibetans. Thurman will draw from the wisdom of the book he recently wrote, Man of Peace: The Illustrated Life Story of the Dalai Lama of Tibet. Thurman will speak about the book and apply its key lessons to each of us.

Thurman will also guide us in meditation and answer your questions.

And we'll follow the talk with social time, enjoying wine and coconut water and nibbles, with plenty of time to connect and forge friendships with other mindful New Yorkers.

Join us to meet incredible new friends. To learn how to cultivate peace within. To hear wisdom from a master teacher. And to enjoy an incredible evening in New York City, in the beautiful space of the private members club Neuehouse.

You have two options: $150 to join at 6pm for a private tea, limited to just 18 people, to spend an hour with Robert Thurman in a more intimate setting and in a stunning private room. Or $50 for general admission for a talk, meditation and Q&A at 7pm, followed by a social hour with food and drinks. (All tea tickets include general admission as well.)

A portion of all ticket sales will be donated to the Tibet House, the U.S. cultural center of the Dalai Lama.
